I’ve been using a Kula Cloth for years now and absolutely love it! It’s not only good for the backcountry, it works great at home also. Saves tons of toilet paper so it’s good for the planet and trees. Thanks for the article, I learned why it’s important to pee on a durable, hard surface, rather than plants now and will do that going forward.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the article! And yes, that's not a commonly known peeing 'tactic'! If you ever pee on alpine flora in an area where goats or deer are frequent, they will absolutely arrive in your absence and nibble on the plants. I usually try to find a granite slab, rocks, or just on the trail itself. Thanks so much for your kind words, Marlene -- it means a lot!

I gave Kula cloths to a few friends and family. I suggested they carry the Kula Cloth in their purse. I often go to a bathroom while I am out and there is no toilet paper. It is convenient to use the Kula cloth rather than hunt for a tissue. Fairs, festivals, etc have port-a-johns and run out of toilet paper. After folding the Kula cloth it can hang off their bag.

You are so kind, Judy! Thank you so much for your support -- and I agree with you! The Kula comes in very handy in an urban environment. I've been to way too many porta-potties with no toilet paper -- ugh! lol!

The Kula is an outdoor game changer for women and I love mine! I combine it with a small cleansing bottle and it keeps me much cleaner and less stinky on trips. Any form of bidet is a great asset to use with any kind of pee rag. One interesting tip I heard for squatting to pee is to pull your butt cheeks apart to keep your stream straight. Of course this assumes you are able to maintain your balance in a deep squat without holding on to anything else! So far I’m good at getting down but some days getting back up is a challenge. Thank you, Anastasia, for creating this product and for the great community you are building around it!

Hi Sharon -- what a thoughtful comment -- THANK YOU! I'm so glad you love the Kula!

I've never tried the butt check method for peeing - ha! Going to have to add that to my list of pee techniques to attempt lol! Thank YOU for your kindness and support, it means a lot!

This article is so thoroughly and thoughtfully written! You've continued to take the high road just by being your authentic self, and creating gear that goes beyond its' usefulness. I will always support Kula Cloth in its' usefulness, superb education of Leave No Trace, support of small business artists, extended community and Kindness above all. You've promoted the "how to" over the "what to" buy, and my wish is that every person would read this article so the earth and it's inhabitants wherein we roam in their space will be safe and thriving as a result. Godspeed, my friend! I am happy to know you, and learn from you!
