Try Indian restaurants, both the Jain religion and the Krishnas have religious beliefs prohibiting the consumption of garlic and onions. This makes finding vegetarian meals with no garlic easier, though it is hard to get it vegan. Frying cheese in butter and covering it in cream sauce is so fundamental to traditional banquet dishes! Food will be noted as "can be prepared Satvik" on the menu, and in my experience they are much better at accommodations for this particular dietary need.
This post absolutely floored me. You already pay taxes to your government. You already pay taxes to your state and municipality. It is ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL that you have to pay for healthcare. Worse, that your government allows insurance companies to make money off of your health care! This is an absolute horrible situation. I have no idea how an entire country got into such a mess. I am so grateful to hear that you have found an adequate work around for this situation, but no one should have to go through things like that.
I agree with you on so many levels … it’s LITERALLY insane. $12,000+ for a trip to the ER for severe stomach pain is not normal, when I already give the government 30% of my income. UGh.
I love this edition of the Kula Diaries! Individually, loving everything you mentioned, but bigger picture is the focus on things that bring you joy. The global exhaustion of negativity should never be our constant mindset. Negativity wins when it consumes us. Thank you for the reminder that there is much to celebrate.
I’m not sure I’ve told you, but a while ago you recommended Midnight Burger and it has become my go-to “kitchen podcast” (deep cleaning, big kitchen projects, etc) while The Recipe with Kenji & Deb is on hiatus. I love it so much! It’s the perfect combo of time travel and story telling. I also recently finished Sorry About The Murder while at work last week, which is also a very fun one you recommended.
You had me at Crowd Health and overalls!
On a more positive note, I also have an allium intolerance. I like the Fody Food pasta sauce as pizza sauce, you just have to add oregano and chilies. https://fodyfoods.ca/?srsltid=AfmBOorEjt7FNj-eSL_pS2QL2yGa9UTA0Gf-SSLwVjBRuMAxZcTvcq_K
