You are so truly welcome Tracy - this was a hard one for me to write for a lot of reasons - I tend not to talk about or think about the past much these days (not out of avoidance - but because it feels so distant) - but I knew that this would be helpful for folks and hopefully provide hope to those who are meeting me right now - that it is possible to rise up from a place that feels very, very hopeless. Sending you a lot of love, friend! I really appreciate your kindness and support so much.

Thank you for sharing, I related to SO many of the things from this post. Especially being the stereotypical perfectionist oldest of 3 sisters, feeling of failure from a divorce, being lost after big career shifts! So I glad you found your way to meditation and gratitude. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Thank you for the realistic share that let me see where you came from. I see some commonalities with own life and it puts more wind in my sails to keep me moving forward. -Helga Hikes

I am so glad Helga! It has not be a quick path, and there are a lot of things that I wouldn’t repeat given the choice - but I definitely am now at peace with everything that happened, and feel like the ‘point’ of it was to ultimately be able to help others in a meaningful way. I think that’s probably what we all want, deep down - to connect and love our fellow beings. Thank you for your kind words and support, it means a lot!

You are so welcome Chris! While I honestly wasn’t able to see any positives in the midst of these experiences (while I was in the ‘thick’ of it) - I can look back and see where they were leading me now. Honestly, if somebody had told me to ‘be positive’ back then... I probably would

have smacked them 😂😂. I was very much in despair - and as such, I fully believe that we need to experience emotions fully and not deny them. However, as I’ve moved through the process - I’m now able to look back and find a lot of gratitude for all of the things that I once perceived as ‘bad’. So grateful for you and your friendship, Chris! ❤️

You talked about feeling shame and guilt, and it made me wonder if you’ve read Brene Brown’s books? I loved them, especially The Gifts of Imperfection. Permanent part of my “personal growth” library! 😂
